Stress and weight-gain

Did you mysteriously gain weight last year?

Most people live everyday in a stressful environment, and don’t really think about it. You might say “I’m stressed” and move on. Chronic stress, is a real issue, and according to some studies it can result in an 11 pound weight gain each year. Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, a professor at Ohio State University, found that women who experience a stressful event, even one day before eating that high-fat meal, tend to burn 104 calories LESS, than their Zen friend, who has their shit balanced. The study also found the women who were stressed had higher levels of insulin, which contributes to fat storage. Dr. Kiecolt-Glaser, reports that can equal an 11 lb a year gain.

Ladies, it’s time to get balanced. It’s time to focus on the chill factors and start toning down all the things we allow to stress us out.

3 Tips to help you chill

If you have tons of thoughts in your head swirling around, and a long to-do list. STOP for an hour and write it all down. Organize the information. When we have all that chaos floating around, just trying to remember everything we know we will forget stresses us out.

Meditate. Even if you only have 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes at night. Use that time, allow your mind to be still, let your body relax, allow yourself to feel the energy that is present within and around you. If you need guidance I have a free meditation on my website, under free stuff.

Spend time in nature. Go rub some trees, and I am serious! It might sound a little out there to some people, but let me ask you this, how has staying away from nature helped you? Besides having allergies, I can’t think of many ways it would be helpful. We are energetic being that communicate through vibration, nature hears our needs and fulfills them. Take time to be one with our planet, at least 30 minutes a week.
